Our Story

Some recipes are inherited. Some are discovered. Ours was inspired by friendship, family, service, and a love that became legend.

Get Liq'd began long before the first margarita was ever poured.

Our story starts with two lifelong friends, Robert Davis II and Creition "CJ" Kinchen Sr., who first met as children growing up in military family housing. Both came from generations of proud United States Army service members, learning early the values of loyalty, sacrifice, and brotherhood.

As adults, their paths took different directions. Robert continued his family's Army tradition while CJ answered the call of the United States Navy. Though miles apart and serving in different branches, their bond remained unbreakable.

Years later, after separate deployments and service related injuries, fate brought them back together in a military hospital where both were recovering from surgery. Nearly twenty years had passed since they had last seen each other, yet they picked up right where they left off.

During those long recovery days, conversations turned from military service to life, family, dreams, and regrets.

That's when CJ shared the story of the one person he never forgot.

Years earlier, while stationed near the California Mexico border, CJ had visited a small family owned restaurant and bar known only to locals. There he caught sight of a woman with striking green eyes named Reina Margarita.

Her family was famous throughout the region for their generations old margarita recipes, and Reina herself had become a local legend after creating a variation that saved her family's struggling restaurant and won a prestigious regional competition.

Over time, despite family traditions and cultural barriers, the two fell deeply in love.

But their story was not destined to be simple.

When CJ sought her father's blessing, he was met with disapproval. Shortly afterward, Reina disappeared from the town without warning. Communication ended. All that remained was a single photograph and a lifetime of unanswered questions.

After retiring from military service, Robert invited CJ to travel with him to Mexico, where his uncle Juan known throughout Jalisco as "Legendary" owned a respected agave ranch.

Jalisco, the birthplace of tequila, became the setting for a new chapter.

Using family connections and local relationships, they searched for answers about Reina. They learned she had returned to her family, become a celebrated figure in the community, and eventually vanished from public life.

Though her whereabouts remained unknown, CJ discovered something unexpected.

At Legendary's ranch, hidden away in an old cellar, was a treasured family margarita recipe passed down through generations. The first sip was unforgettable. Authentic. Refreshing. Timeless.

And somehow, it reminded him of her.

Inspired by both families' traditions, CJ began experimenting with new flavor profiles while honoring the original recipe's roots. Together, he, Robert, and Legendary entered local competitions, crafting unique margarita variations year after year.

They won.

The ranch flourished again.

The family traditions lived on.

Yet every new recipe carried the same hope that perhaps one day, somewhere in the crowd, those unforgettable green eyes would appear again.

While that reunion never came, something else was born.

A passion for creating exceptional margaritas.

A commitment to family recipes and craftsmanship.

A belief that every great drink should tell a story.

Today, Get Liq'd proudly carries that tradition forward.

Founded by families shaped by military service, strengthened by lifelong friendship, and inspired by generations of craftsmanship, we are dedicated to serving fresh, authentic, unforgettable margaritas that bring people together.
